What are net carbs? We can determine net carbs by removing fiber content from the total amount of carbs. Essentially, eggs contain very few carbohydrates. If we look at the data from the National Agricultural Library, one chicken egg has less than half a gram of carbs in total. This means that the actual amount of net carbs in eggs will technically be 0.
Now let’s take a look at different types of eggs. As you can see in the table below, there is some amount of net carbs in goose and ostrich eggs – 1.9 g and 10 g. However, there is no need to worry about this if you like these types of eggs. The net carbs in a goose egg aren’t substantial, and one ostrich egg is too large to eat even throughout a day.

Generally, you can include eggs in your meal plan without worrying about extra carbs. Adding eggs to your dishes is an easy way to cut your total carb intake.
How to increase net carbs in eggs?
What should you do if you prefer eggs but also want to increase your net carb amount?
The only way we can increase the number of net carbs in eggs is by adding other ingredients that aren’t carb-free. For example, we can consume our eggs with toast. If we have omelets or scrambled eggs, we can mix them with high-carb vegetables like corn and bell peppers. Similarly, we can also combine fried eggs with whole-wheat bread for a maximum carb increase.
When you choose to add extra carbs to your diet, I strongly suggest you steer clear of so-called “fast carbs.” These carbs come from sources like fast food and sweets. We consider these carbohydrates to be “empty calories,” and too many of these carbs can be harmful, even leading to metabolic diseases. Instead, choose vegetables or whole grains to make your tasty egg dishes!
